How we make money

Advertising and affiliate disclosure

RetaRadar is free to read. It is paid for by advertising. This page explains who pays us, for what, and how we label it.

Our sponsored partner

LeoLab (leolabrx.com) is our sponsored partner. LeoLab pays us to appear in the #1 position of our rankings, under the heading “Our Top Pick”, and to be featured on the home page. This is a paid placement — an advertisement.

  • Wherever LeoLab appears in the rankings, its card or row carries the label “Sponsored partner · Paid placement” or “Sponsored”.
  • Its review page says at the top that LeoLab pays for its position.
  • Our home page has a short section about LeoLab written as a recommendation from us, its paying partner. Any fact we state there links to, or comes from, LeoLab’s own website.
  • Positions 2 and below are not for sale. They are ordered by the score from our published checklist.

Links to vendors

Every link from this site to a vendor — LeoLab and every other shop — is marked rel="sponsored" and opens in a new tab. At present no vendor other than LeoLab pays us. If we join an affiliate program that pays a commission when a reader buys, we will name that vendor on this page; a commission would not change a vendor’s score or its position below #1.

What we do not do

  • We do not accept free products or samples.
  • We do not publish customer reviews or testimonials, and we do not write or buy reviews for any vendor.
  • We do not let vendors edit what we write about them. Vendors can ask us to re-check facts, at no cost.

Why we tell you this

The Federal Trade Commission’s Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 CFR Part 255) require a material connection between an advertiser and a publisher to be disclosed clearly and close to the endorsement. The FTC’s Trade Regulation Rule on the Use of Consumer Reviews and Testimonials (16 CFR Part 465, 2024) also prohibits presenting a review site as independent when a business controls it, and prohibits fake or bought reviews. That is why the label sits on the partner’s card itself, not only on this page.
